BMW Towed and Repaired in Columbia S.C. and DBW has not paid

I bought a warranty from DBW in December 2013 in the amount of $250.00 down and $101.00 for 18 months. My BMW had some radiator and hose problems that was partially cover under the warranty. So I had it towed to A2Z in Lexington SC on August 19,2015. I faxed a copy of the tow invoice on August 24th which I had to refaxed because the first invoice they would not accept. The repair shop had the car ready for pick up on August 21st. The repair shop called DBW (several calls approx: 25 min. wait) and finally got a hold of them and they said they would fax the check right away. To this date we have not received any payment for towing or repairs and I have called them 2 to 3 times a month since August 21st 2015. Do not use DBW. They are SCAMS.

Customer service is terrible. Dealership been waiting for answer for 3 days. If they fix and i pay, they deny claim. Once they have your number, you get disconnected after one ring. I need my car and 4 days to get approval is rediculous. This is a scam

Fraudulent Sales Practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The salesperson lied to me and told me I would have no deductibles or out of pocket expenses including diagnotics charges for car repairs. So I paid almost $2,000 for the best package. When I went into my car dealer for repair services )for the first time since I purchased the warranty), I was informed that diagnostics was not covered, and that I was lied to. I called Direct Buy to cancel and request a full refund because of their fraudulent sales practices, and they said they would prorate it. I asked for the manager to call me because I was disputing it and wanted a full refund. The warranty was never used and I just got it. No one ever called me back as promised and no one there at the Direcxt Buy ever answers their phone anymore. There is a distorted message and I get disconnected. I called several times since.

I can't believe this company is still in business. Does anyone know where their physical address or place of business is? Also, are there any class action suits against them?

I have had 2 claims within 30K miles with 2 different auto shops, they will give authorization to the shop but WILL NOT PAY. Do not buy this warranty. Customer service will promise the check has been sent by fax and then sent in the mail, but will not give a confirmation. Auto shop would not release my car, so I had to pay all out of pocket. Wasted my $1995. My work done on the car was less then that. Called and emailed them for 3 months now. If you buy this warranty, you deserve your loss.

Warning! Do NOT use

Do NOT use this company. They are being investigated by the BBB in Ohio, and supposedly got kicked out of NJ. I have been waiting for my refund for months now. I bought a warranty, then 6 months later decided to cancel. Their phones do NOT work, (just try calling) and or you will get a slow motion voice recorded message, or an immediate hang up, or you will hold for 30 minutes before getting disconnected. I am confident this company is a sham and just takes your money with nothing in return and I have NEVER had to deal with something like this before. In the past the company I used was Direct Warranty (Not DBW) and when I bought another car, I quickly did the Google search and got the wrong company. MY bad!! I hope I can save one other person from just throwing away their money. The BBB is investigating ( I spoke with the woman on their case in Ohio) and I am now proceeding (as per the BBB) to file a complaint with my justice department/attorney general.

I have experienced the same as you. Are these people still in business?

How can you file a complaint with your state attorney general. I am waiting for my refund and can not get a hold of anyone for 4 months. Also, can I dispute the charge with my credit card if the policy was purchased in 03/15?

Dear Anonymous,

Please use link http://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/Pages/File-a-Complaint.aspx to file a complaint regarding refund. In addition, file a complaint with the BBB of Ohio at www.columbus-ohbbb.org.

You should be able to dispute charge with credit card. I filed a complaint with the BBB of Ohio and the AG of New Jersey for an outstanding refund. They state I should receive by 1/20/16. We'll see!

Direct Buy Warranty usually responds when you file a complaint. They give you the runaround but don't relent. Retain any unanswered emails and if you need to send any documents, send them certified because if not, they'll claim they were lost or never received them.

See link below to view settlement details of lawsuit filed against DBW. If you'd like to contact me for additional information, my email is wskin1@***.com,

Any luck? I did the same and got the same letter promising to pay me "on or before" Feb 7th 2016.

I sent a follow up letter to the AG, and also contacted the insurance commissioner.

I spoke with him at length last week and he is following up and trying to pursue a criminal complaint as he has several cases now piling up against DBW in CA. Contact your insurance commissioner!

I guess the letter to the attorney general helped - I received my refund today (after 4 months and dozens of calls and missed promises)

Original review Sep 09, 2015
I purchased a warranty 1/29/15 for a 2005 Bentley Continental GT. Paid $4,850.00. Decided to sell and new owners would not want warranty, so cancelled it in May. Sent in notarized attestation of mileage. Was sent an email with a link to confirm the refund amount would be $4,170.83. It is now SEPTEMBER 2015 and still no refund. I call, send email, postal mail, etc. Was told the refund was sent to accounting to be credited to my credit card. In August I was told a check was mailed on 8/24, then 8/27, then maybe it was mailed on 8/30. Several attempts to talk to a supervisor result in none being available, but am promised a call back. Never once has anyone called me back. Now they say they are moving their offices and can't get a supervisor on the line - someone will call me back (NOT!) I just sent all my notes to the office of consumer affairs and attorney general. Not sure what else I can do.

I don't understand how they are still soliciting! Exact same thing happened to me.

unfortunately for them, USSA is now going after them as they reimbursed me the 3211.00 I paid in full when I signed up for their service in 2014. This is insane!!!

I too received my refund after 3 loooong months of tug-o-war!

Racine Axm

I did the same thing. Their promises mean nothing.

I can not believe how many people said the similar things. I had experienced the same thing, promises were never kept, no return call or email, waiting on the phone forever, no supervisor available. How can they possible be a legitimate company.

I'm glad NJ attorney general is prosecuting them. I wish my MD AG will do the same soon.

Direct buy warranty are liars and rip off artist scammers! I got taken for almost $2,000. They cannot be reached by phone and using fraudulent sales practices. They still owe me a full refund and a promised phone call from the manager never happened. When I try calling the company, I get disconnected every time. This company cannot be trusted. Don't make the same mistake I did.

I am a Service Manager and wanted to take the time to write about this company. This is the best example of the worst customer service you could ever imagine. I spoke to a young lady, "K", intial only, who I would have terminated on the spot. When I finally reached management they did not care, nor want to listen. These men simply hung up. The hold times are in excess of 2o minutes. This is no joke. This is a terribly run organization. The president or CEO needs to get a handle on this, but from what I have learned, " The fish stinks from the head down, " so I guess we have little recourse. I warn anyone who listens to heed my words and don't say no one told me.

They will deny all claims

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Was told by the dealer that the valve guide seals were leaking. The mechanic spoke with the warranty company and he advised that if you can prove the valve guide seals were worn then it would be covered. Very specific. We stripped the parts down (the assessor confirmed that the valve guides were leaking) and now they deny the claim. On another item they approved the claim and then later denied it. It is a scam. They will allege everything is wear and tear. They are impossible to get a hold of as well. If you are tempted to buy the warranty, try calling the claim phone number . I should have been smarter.

Horrible Customer Service and Crooks

I purchased a Warranty from Direct Warranty and paid $2000.00 for it. I have a 550i BMW and when I made a claim, they denied it and I asked for a refund. They sent a form, I sent it back and I still haven't received my money back from them. This company should be closed because, their practices are totally unethical. I am in Texas, if anyone knows of an Attorney willing to represent the Texas area, please let me know.

I too am in Texas but uncertain of an attorney to use. My suggestion is to file a complaint with the BBB of Ohio (www.columbus-ohbbb.org) and the AG of New Jersey(http://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/Pages/File-a-Complaint.aspx)

If you have unanswered emails and emails where documentation was sent to obtain refund, retain them to use as supporting documentation with the BBB and AG of New Jersey. Please see link to read article below regarding settlement of suit against DBW by the AG of New Jersey.

They refuse to pay, after 4 months of being without transportation, finally found a ASE certified mechanic to repair. I was told I would be given a courtesy payment of $400.00. I spoke to 6 representative they last on told me they were sending the mechanic a certified check to a Suntrust Bank, NEVER HAPPEN! RIP OFF FOR $2300
